This article will guide you on how to add a product variation on Jet using SlickCentral.
To create a product variation:
- List each variant as separate SKUs. Provide the attributes needed (example: Color, Size)
- Select one of the variant SKUs as the parent. Go the that SKU's edit page.
- Scroll down to the Product Variation section. Here you can fill in the:
- Relationship type: The nature of the relationship between a parent SKU and its children SKUs. Select Variation.
- Group Title: The title for the variation group to be shown as the title product detail page.
- Refinement: The attribute associated with the characteristic the parent and children SKUs relate on. Use ctrl-click to select multiple refinements.
- Children SKUs: The other variant SKUs of the products that you have listed in step 1.
Important Note: The product to which the variations are added is regarded as the parent SKU. If you wish to have this product as a child SKU, you must select the product that you want it to be a variant of and add it as a child SKU there.
Below is a step-by-step example on how to create a product variation.
Let's assume we are looking to create a Product "A" in four colors:
- Product "A" Black
- Product "A" Red
- Product "A" Yellow
- Product "A" Blue
Currently, Jet requires each variation to first be created as an individual product. Before creating a variation relationship, each variation of product A has to be listed on Jet as if it was its own product.
Doing this will allow us to link the four products together as variants of Product "A".
In this example, we will add the four products with the SKUs A-Black, A-Red, A-Yellow and A-Blue then select one of the four SKUs to be the parent product. Here, we will use A-Black as the parent product.
This article assumes that the four products A-Black, A-Red, A-Yellow and A-Blue already exist on Jet.
First, click on Products and select Jet Listings. On the products page, click on A-Black from the list of products so that we get redirected to its product edit page. Once there, scroll down to the Product Variation section. The section looks as follows:
We now want to fill in this section with information that lets Jet know that products A-Blue, A-Yellow and A-Red are related to (i.e. are variants of A-Black). In this section, click on the Children SKUs field and input the SKUs for the other three products. Make sure you click on Add each time you input a Child SKU:
(Input the individual SKUs 'A-Blue', 'A-Yellow' and 'A-Red' in this field. Click on Add each time you input an SKU)
This will connect the separately created SKUs to one parent product with the three variations under that product.
Next you need to input a group title. This is the value that will be displayed in the product's details page on Jet.com.
Once you have done that, under Relationship Type choose the option 'Variation'. This is because the four products are the same, but vary by the attribute color. Therefore, they are variations of the same product.
Under Variation Refinements select 'Color', which is the main attribute that these four products share.
Once done, click Save to submit these changes to Jet.
When creating individual products for each variant, the difference that we're most interested in for products variations is the variant attribute. In the above case, the color.
Each color (Black, Blue, Red, and Yellow) is added in the Category Attribute section of the product page.
